The Lancaster Bulldogs Wheelchair Basketball Club is based in Lancaster but has members/players who live as far afield as Sedbergh and Preston and ages differ from the youngest who is 8 to 50 years of age.
We believe in ensuring everyone regardless of disability or confidence has the opportunity to participate in a sport that will help develop skills, confidence and self esteem whether you want to do it for fun or competitively.
We have a mixed group of members/players who have specific disabilities and also members/players who are able bodied but train/play on a level pegging as everyone. This inclusive attitude enables everyone to work together and bring out the best in individuals and have a peer to peer support network which unifies the club and has a family feel to what we do.
We always welcome new people into the family and ensure our coaches and experienced players enable them to have a smooth transition into the world of wheelchair basketball and gain the same addiction to what we all have.
We have set up a Schools Disability Scheme where we go into schools with the wheelchairs and allow all the children and young people to experience not only a great sport but as importantly breaking the barriers to disabilities what its like to be in wheelchair and have FUN!
We are a self funding club and are always looking for different challenges to help raise funds and awareness of us. Anyone wishing to help raise funds or even become a sponsor of sorts is welcome to contact the club and find out more information of how they can help or what would be involved in sponsorship.
We have been fortunate over the past season to have had Frankie and Bennies as our kit sponsor. We are desperate for new equipment and wheelchairs each season so would welcome help with fulfilling this.
